Jump Dress: First Update

All that talk about trying to accurately recreate the Jump Dress, and the first thing I do is alter the pattern! Don't fret, there were several very important reasons to change Simplicity 8399.

First, and most important, I scrapped the idea of a skirt and an underskirt made of satin. I can achieve the same look using the beading and trim with only one satin skirt. I don't think the final look of the dress will change. So one skirt and one lining it is.

Second, the pattern called for elastic in the sleeves and around the neckline of the black lace overbodice. But in pictures of the actual Jump Dress, there is not elastic or gathering, so some alterations had to be made to make the black lace lay flat.

With those small alterations, I constructed most of the Jump Dress out of deep red satin and black lace. It still needs a lot of work, but the next step will be beading the hell of it!

Best,

Adelaide
