I have a friend who can design a pattern for anything out of muslin and tailor's chalk. I am not so lucky, so for my own sanity (and to help anyone else who might be reconstructing a costume) I will be using and adapting patterns for each of Rose's Ten Dresses (RTDs). I was lucky enought to buy the above pattern on Ebay some time ago. It was printed in 1998 right around the time of Titianic-mania probably for Halloween costumes.
This pattern (Simplicity 8399/0673) includes two RTDs: the Jump Dress on the left and the Swim Dress on the right. I have decided to begin my venture with the Jump Dress.
The Jump Dress is empire-waisted and consists of an underskirt, skirt, and overskirt as well as a bodice and overbodice. The bodice and overbodice are almost entirely covered with elaborate beading and rhinestones. The skirt and underskirt are also elaboratly decorated at the hem. The overskirt (the black lace train) is trimmed with beads and rhinestones.
It is one of the more challenging dresses and I am really excited to get started!
Best,
Adelaide
